JUVÉDERM VOLLURE® XC
What is Juvéderm Vollure XC?
The original Juvederm® filler, now known as Juvederm® XC, was approved by the FDA back in 2006 for the treatment of mild to moderate creases and lines around the nose and mouth. Since then, the Juvederm® line has continued to expand, targeting different areas of the face.
One of the newest additions is Juvéderm Vollure® XC. Juvéderm Vollure® XC is intended to be used on moderate to deep folds around the mouth. These include smile lines running from the nose down to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds), marionette lines running from the corners of the mouth downward, and parentheses lines framing the sides of the mouth.
How does Vollure work?
All Juvéderm ® fillers are “natural” fillers, as they are made with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the human body whose job is to keep the skin firm, plump, and hydrated. It does this by binding with nearby water molecules. When Vollure® is injected beneath a deep line or crease, it instantly fills the sunken space as the hyaluronic acid gets to work. This pushes the skin back upwards, erasing the crease.
What Areas are Treated with Juvéderm Vollure?
Juvéderm Vollure® XC is formulated for use on moderate to deep:
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Parentheses lines
Would Vollure be a good product for me?
If you have relatively deep nasolabial, marionette, and parentheses lines, Vollure® is a good option for addressing them. It can work on more severe creases than other dermal fillers, including Juvederm® XC.
Juvéderm Vollure Results
Juvéderm Vollure® XC is the longest lasting hyaluronic acid filler on the market, providing volume for 18 months. That is six months longer than any other hyaluronic acid filler.
Vollure Side Effects
The potential side effects are the same as with other hyaluronic acid fillers. Allergic reactions are rare because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the human body. The typical side effects are redness, slight swelling, tenderness, and bruising at the injection sites. This resolves quickly. There can also be some firmness and even lumps, but this rarely lasts beyond 7-10 days.
