What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin to make skin smoother, reduce scarring and remove blemishes. There are several types of chemical peels ranging from mild to strong and a consultation with our experienced staff will determine what strength is best for you. Peels can be combined with other procedures, such as Botox and dermal fillers for additional improvement to skin.
What to Expect During your Chemical Peel Treatment
Chemical peels are done in our medical spa as an outpatient procedure. During a chemical peel, the skin is cleansed and the solution is applied, which may cause a brief stinging sensation. The peel will remove the damaged skin layers and make your skin feel rejuvenated. The difference between all of our peel options are the number of steps and the types of solution used.
Types of Chemical Peels
At Skin Medical Spa we understand that each individual is different, that is why we offer a variety of chemical peel to ensure the best results for each skin type. The chemical peels we offer are:
- VI Peel
- Revitalize Peel
- Obagi Blue Radiance Peel
- Glycolic Peels
- Lactic Acid Peels
The Only 7 Day Skin Transformation in the World. This chemical peel improves tone, texture, and clarity of the skin, while also reducing or eliminating age spots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation (including melasma). It also reduces pore size and helps clear acne conditions. The VI Peel will also promote the stimulation of collagen for firmer skin, as well as soften fine lines and wrinkles. This chemical peel is virtually painless and takes approximately 20 minutes. Except for sunscreen, little to no skin preparation needed. Healing and downtime are minimal and lasts 7 days.
The Revitalize Peel combines the benefits of alpha-hydroxy acids to provide a strong, but gentle, formulation. After one treatment, you will notice an improvement in your skin’s texture and tone, lessening of fine lines, and a healthier, more youthful appearance. The Revitalize Peel is safe and effective for all skin types and is clinically proven to help fade pigmentation and stimulate collagen production. This chemical peel is also useful in adult acne treatment and acne scarring.
Obagi Blue Radiance Peel
The Obagi Blue Radiance Peel helps to reverse the effects of aging, sun damage and other skin conditions. Using salicylic acid, this chemical peel treatment sloughs off dead cells while stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process. The chemical peel reduces breakouts and the appearance of enlarged pores, balances skin tone, diminishes fine lines and acne scars resulting in clear, beautiful skin. This peel is typically not recommended for pregnant women. The Obagi Peel is designed to complement the Obagi Skin Care System.
Chemical Peel Real Patient Review
The staff at Skin Medical are true professionals who know what they are doing! If you are looking for a place where you can rest assured that you will look your best, get stellar treatment, and not get talked into unnecessary treatments then Skin Medical Spa is the place for you!
With the use of alpha hydroxy acids (aha’s), our Glycolic Peel increases your skin’s performance to allow fresher skin cells to surface. This chemical peel stimulates collagen production, refines large pores and improves fine lines and texture.
Lactic Acid Peel
This superficial and no downtime chemical peel is ideal to give you picture perfect skin before any big event. The lactic acid gently exfoliates and hydroquinone gradually lightens pigment and sun damage. The addition of hydroquinone is optional. This chemical peel is very popular for brides needing that last minute “glow.”
Chemical Peel Side Effects
Side effects may vary depending on the chemical peel and usually don’t last longer than a week. Common short-term side effects include redness, irritation, swelling and stinging. More uncommon complications include infection, scarring, and a change or uneven appearance in skin tone. For several months after a chemical peel, it is essential that the skin is properly protected from the sun to reduce the risk of complications.
