FAQs About Botox

Fine lines and wrinkles are a real beast when you start to age. And although topical creams with ingredients like retinol can help reduce their appearance, Botox is basically a wonder drug. Derived from botulinum toxin A, Botox works by temporarily softening your fine lines and wrinkles. To help you understand a bit more about this wonder injection, let’s take a closer look at three frequently asked questions.
When Is Too Young to Get Botox?
It used to be that Botox was only popular amongst middle-aged women who were trying to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles. And although it is still popular amongst that age group, we have seen an increase in patients in their late twenties and early thirties who want to get Botox. During your initial consultation at our office, we will better be able to determine if you should get Botox now or wait a little longer.
Does It Hurt?
Some patients experience a slight bit of discomfort during their injections, but because most sessions take about 15-30 minutes, you won’t have to worry about it for too long. If you are anxious beforehand, we can apply a topical numbing cream to help you stay as comfortable as possible.
How Long Does It Take To Kick In?
Unlike some dermal fillers that show results right away, Botox takes about 5-7 days on average for patients to see the full results. Make sure that if you are getting Botox before a big event or occasion that you schedule it at least a week beforehand so that you get results and so that if you bruise afterward that it goes away.
Schedule a Consultation
Botox has remained the most popular non-invasive treatment among patients of all ages because it’s safe, fast, affordable, and effective. If you are new to Botox or if you want to schedule your next Botox session, contact our San Francisco office today and call us at 415.409.6500.
